Choosing colored guitar strings over the regular types are based on looks and not necessarily on performance. The sound quality of a guitar string is usually not affected even when they are coated with a different color. But remember guitar strings differ from every manufacturer which means some of the colored guitar strings may not sound good over other strings with the same design.
